HEATED LAND ist ein Songwriteralbum, das roh und stoisch in diesem sonst so einfühlsamen Genre steht. Man möchte fast archaisch dazu sagen. Die einzigen gültigen musikalischen Koordinaten dieses Albums liegen zwischen Howlin´ Wolf, Little Walter und Son House auf der einen und Bob Dylan, Townes van Zandt und JJ Cale auf der anderen Seite. HEATED LAND saugen Inspiration fast ausschließlich aus alten Bluesplatten, schaffen in der Mimikry eines Folk- und Songwriteralbums jedoch fast schon avantgardistische Popsong-Miniaturen. Heated Land stellten gemeinsam mit Sound Engineer Torsten Lang in einem verlassenen Bahnwärterhäuschen neben einer von Personalabbau und Fahrgastmangel entvölkerten S-Bahnstation am Rande Dresdens Mikrofone auf und spielten (abgesehen von vereinzelten backing vocals und der pedal steel guitar in „Smash Glass“) das gesamte Album inklusive Gesang an wenigen Tagen live ein. Eine mal schneidende, mal freischwebende, mal groovende Momentaufnahme extrem ausgefeilter Lieder.

HEATED LAND is a songwriter album that stands raw and stoic in this usually rather sensitive genre. One could almost say it is archaic. The only valid coordinates of this album lie between Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter und Son House on the one side and Bob Dylan, Townes van Zandt and JJ Cale on the other. HEATED LAND draws inspiration almost exclusively from old blues records and creates, in the mimicry of a folk- and songwriter album, something that could be described as pop song-miniatures with an avantgarde edge.
