Ein naives, nostalgie- und harmonieseliges, fast schon weltfremdes Folkpop-Album von sieben Musikern, die sonst bei außergewöhnlichen Dresdner Bands wie Garda oder The Gentle Lurch aktiv sind. Da knarzen Gitarren und grummelt der Bass, dazu dann Glockenspiele, Klarinetten, Melodikas, Bababa-Singstimmen, Streicher und schmeichelnde Bläser. Und immer wieder sonderbar windschiefe Texte, die klingen als wären sie in der Privatsprache eines Liebespaares formuliert. Für Fans von Erdmöbel, Decemberists oder Element of Crime.

„Gegenteil von Stadt“ („The Opposite of Town“) is the peculiar debut of the folkpop group bergen from Dresden, Germany. Seven musicians have recorded an album that seems almost unworldly in its naivety and inebriation by harmony and nostalgia. Creaking Guitars, grumbling basslines, wind section, glockenspiel, clarinet, choirs of ba-ba’s and da-da’s, occasionally even strings accompany whimsical, warped German lyrics, that seem like they are worded in the private language of a pair of lovers.
