Seit seiner Gründung 1999 und dem ersten Longplayer 'All Over The Place' (2000) zählen THE GREEN APPLE SEA zur ersten Riege im Genre „Americana / Country-Folk“ in deutschen Landen. Tolles Album!

The bronkenness indicatedby the album’s title and artwork (the Cd arrives in a DigiPak with two coversinstead of a front and a back side) is being explained by Stefan Prange, thesinger and songwriter of The Green Apple Sea, on three different levels. Itdoesn’t only represent the two hemispheres, it also mirrors his origins innorthern Germany and his southern home in Nuremberg and finally, it stands fora general high and low. Many of these songs originated in a six-month tripthrough Argentina, in bad news being sent back and forth between the twohemispheres and in the mourning in one place over someone at the other end ofthe world.

Musically these dichotomiesare being resolved in a songwriting as clear and beautiful as a mountain lake. The Green Apple Sea, “state-of-the-art folk- and country-influenced Indiepop inGermany” (INTRO magazine), deliver ten variations of the perfect pop song. Thedefining element of the album’s sound are complex vocal harmonies, soaring intograceful chorales and strewing countless beautiful melodies into these songs.Another important constituent is the subtle and subversive drumming. There isn’tany consistent drumming that accompanies these songs but intricate patterns, created by two drummers, swelling an ebbing inside of them.

The result knits theharmonies of fully depressed Beach Boys to the tender arrangements of NickDrake and to the compositional brilliance of Wilco – a decountrified folkmusic, reminiscent of the early British and American folk-pop songs à la Chad& Jeremy of the 1950s and 60s.

K&F Records is primarily in the Singer-/ Songwriter business. Still it also likes the full band swing. It has an office in Dresden, Germany, in which everyone is working the nightshift.
